A birthing establishment gets a signature look.

Location:

Leesburg, VA

Interior Designers:

Tara Price & Rachel Boyle

Project Summary:

Approximately 6400 Sq Ft. located in a former Family Practice Suite within INOVA Loudoun Hospital.

Project Description:

This is a midwife center.  They wanted the space to feel homelike and comfortable (not clinical).  The philosophy is that birth is a shared experience and patients can have their families with them during birth.  Each space was created with enough room to accommodate families. Each room has a family area with seating and a kitchenette.   The public spaces were designed to feel like home with a living room, residential style kitchen, built-in bookshelves and a fireplace.

Unique features:

The client also wanted moms to have different options within the room during labor and delivery such as a birthing tub, queen sized bed, and birthing swing. It was a great opportunity to meet needs we had not come across before and the result is the most versatile, comfortable room for an expectant mother.

A neighborhood hospital gets a makeover

Project Summary:

Small existing religious space within INOVA Alexandria Hospital.

Project Description:

The INOVA Chapel was already a non-denominational space for meditation and religious events.  However, the interior was dated and not conducive to multiple religion's needs. The client needed a comfortable, soothing, peaceful place of reflection.

Unique features:

There was a need for custom storage to house religious materials including bibles and prayer rugs. The seating can be moved for different types of religious events such as Sunday services via closed caption TV, daily Muslim prayer space, meditation space.  We were even able to install a custom built-in keyboard compartment and design and one-of-a-kind lectern.
